Despite a number of economic ups and downs throughout the past decade, the trucking industry has remained strong. In fact, 2014 was one of the best years yet for the industry and just about every indication shows that it will continue to thrive in the future. In fact, across the country several sectors have seen a rebound this year, which is good news for everyone. As far a trucking goes, companies are not only operating at full capacity, but they are regularly expanding their fleets.
The American Trucking Association believes that not only will truckload volumes increase by 3.2% every year through 2018, but they are also projecting an increase in the industry’s overall share of domestic shipments. As this population only continues to go, this is a strong sign that more people than ever before are using trucking services to ship their goods.
Things haven’t been perfect. An increase in regulations over the past few years have slowed down some progress, but there is hope that lawmakers will allow an increase in truck carrying capacity among other changes. If companies work closely with lawmakers, there is a good chance that together they can keep the industry on its clear path to success.
