We recently told you about a new bill that if passed would limit the speed of some big rigs, preventing them from going more than 75 MPH. Safety is always a primary concern of the trucking industry, and it’s something we care deeply about here at SPEED Global Services. Recently State Troopers and members of the trucking industry teamed up to promote and talk about other safety issues related to trucks and other vehicles on the road.
According to the Alabama Trucking Association, more than two thirds of accidents involving a truck and a car are caused by the driver of the smaller vehicle. Why exactly is this? Because most of these accidents occur when a smaller vehicle tries to speed up and pass a larger truck. To correct this, the Alabama Trucking Association, along with state troopers in Alabama, are advising people to slow down, rather than speed up, when they are around big rigs.
State troopers also help keep the roads safe by inspecting more than a hundred commercial motor vehicles each and every month in Alabama alone. During these inspections they check a variety of things including the wheels, turn signals, headlights, and more.
Whether we’re talking about law enforcement officials, trucking associations, or the drivers themselves, most people are working together to ensure roads are as safe as possible. At SPEED Global Services, we are committed to doing our part to ensure the roads are just as safe with our drivers on them as they are without.
